Once again the forecast was
not too conducive for sea kayaking as we know it: the wind was to blow up to 30
knots!
I didn’t have any specific
destination in mind and no major crossing to tackle, so I resorted to have some
fun with my kayak sail again.
What could have been a
rather tedious slog paddling in a stiff breeze turned out to be a fun filled
afternoon of zipping up and down the gentle wind waves.
I only wished that the
tidal flow would have opposed the wind direction, to create a bit bumpier
conditions :-)
.
Supernice video effects!
ReplyDeleteHopefully next blog update explains how that was done.
ReplyDeleteTrained seagull?
I would but I forgot to document it.
DeleteIt's much simpler than you think: real-time Google Earth satellite imagery algorithm composite video :-)
Just like a magic trick I don't want to reveal how it's done or it looses its, ahem... magic?
but the seagull is a good idea, except for the poop
I've figured out how anyway.
DeleteWorked out what was going on and verified it with Google :)
Gets great results on a kayak, I can see it catching on amongst kayak movie makers.
should I assume "seagull training" becoming a trend? until RSPCA gets drift of it....
DeleteExcellent video Gnarlydog! congratulations! a big hug from the other side of the world, Venezuela

@kayakdemar
Very cool video! I still don't get how you got the camera to do as you wished. Telepathy? I'll have to have a chat with mine!
ReplyDeleteyou got me there BF: it is the "power" of my head, but not as you think :-)
DeleteBrilliant!:o)
ReplyDeleteI love your playground and your angles, they are mysterious...and i wonder how how:) hehe:))
ReplyDeleteTake care!

Nice one Gnarly - armchair sea-kayaking from the North West UK and yes the virtual camera perspective is grrrrreat ! On the cusp of buying a code zero FEKS only the uk weather is a turn off right now at single figure temperatures
ReplyDeleteOK. Just how did you get those video effects? Camera mounted on propeller beanie?
ReplyDeletehttp://torsorotation.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/Whereshegoing.png
the propeller beanie was actually used, but to inflate my sail :-)
DeleteAs above amazed by the video effects. Beats the usual camera position showing part of the bow or the paddlers back.
